NSW: Man to face court over robberies

A 34-year-old man will face Sydney's Central Local Court today, charged over a numberof serious robberies across Sydney's south west.

Officers attached to Operation Alphabets arrested the man in Marrickville as part ofa joint investigation involving the Metropolitan Robbery Unit and Campsie detectives.

He was arrested after a stolen vehicle hit a marked police car near Tempe Railway Stationabout 2 pm (AEST) yesterday.

The driver fled, but the 34-year-old man was arrested after a police chased him onfoot and took him to Newtown Police Station.

He was charged with two larceny matters and a carjacking incident at Roselands on February19, which involved a 57-year-old Peakhurst woman.

He was also charged over a robbery at Chullora on February 21.

He was refused bail and will appear at Central Local Court this morning.
